Magnolia's Musings : Microwave Banana Pudding

I was trying to think of something good to make for dessert tonight and I was also thinking about what I wanted to share on the blog today and I decided that I wanted to share one of my favorite recipes.  I love banana pudding and I have a great recipe to make it in the microwave.
This recipe was given to me by a friend many years ago and I have made it many times.  It is easy and quick and soooo delicious!  Nothing is more southern than Banana Pudding!!!!
So here is my recipe:

Vanilla cream filled cookies (the cheap ones)

Mix flour, sugar & salt. Pour in egg and milk mix, stir.

Add butter and stir together.

Add vanilla, crumbled cookies and bananas.

Meringue:

Beat egg whites until frothy.
Add sugar 1 tsp at a time until stiff peaks form.
Sprinkle in cream of tartar and vanilla. Stir. Spread on top and broil until browned.

Alabama The Beautiful!!!!

I love living in Birmingham, Alabama!  I have lived here all my life.   It is a beautiful place.  We have mountains all around that are alive with color in the spring and fall.  We have great weather.  We get to experience all four seasons every year.  Just when you get tired of one season another is about to start.  I especially love the spring and fall.  Spring has been absolutely beautiful this year.  I have had the most beautiful flowers blooming.  It started with the bulbs blooming with tulips and Jonquils.  It is always a happy surprise when they pop through in my flower beds.  It signals more beauty to follow.

When the bulbs start popping up and flowers around the yard start to bloom out you just want to live outside.  The trees are yet to put out leaves and the grass is yet to green up but the beauty of the flowers draw your attention away from that fact.  After the bulbs finish I have Wisteria growing around my wooden fence.  My neighbors all love it when it blooms and this year it is the most beautiful I have ever seen it.

I have a terrible allergy to the wisteria and this year it has been everywhere but it is so worth the stuffy nose and coughing and itchy eyes to get to see and smell this beautiful plant.  I have to really prune it because it grows so rapidly that it would over my house if I am not careful.  Not only is the wisteria beautiful but it has the most incredible fragrance too.  When that starts to bloom I know that my Iris' are not far behind.  This year I had yellow blooms that I don't remember planting.

My how I love flowers.  I am always so amazed that God created such beautiful things for my pleasure.  I am grateful beyond words.   Thanks for taking a tour around my yard.
Have a blessed day!

Welcome to our Blog

This is our first blog post on Lily Magnolia boutique's blog, Lily Magnolia's Musings.  I am excited for our future.  Lily Magnolia is boutique in Birmingham, Alabama at the Riverchase Galleria.  We sell items made in Alabama by artists in and around the Birmingham area.  Most of our items are southern themed or specifically about the great state of Alabama.  We opened for business August 1st, 2015.  There are five of us who run the store.  I want to introduce you to all of us.  We make about 30-40% of all that we sell.  We also have about 18 additional artists who make the rest of our inventory.

First, I want to introduce you to Kayla Burris.  She is an artist with enormous talent.  She is very creative and will do just about anything you ask of her creatively.  She loves to paint and make jewelry.  She loves to create custom pieces for our customers.  She also keeps our store creatively displayed with all our latest inventory.

Next, I want you to meet Anna Church.  Anna is a creative novice but is growing and learning new techniques to create beautiful items for our customers.  Anna is our go to girl for social media and email programs.  Anna keeps things organized around the store.

Then there is Claire Hand.  My beautiful daughter.  She is mommy to my precious granddaughter, Chloe.  She too is a creative novice and has learned many techniques to make beautiful jewelry.  She is a chip off the 'ole block so her creativity will come out as she tries new things.

Kristie Thornton keeps us going on the weekend.  She is a self professed non-crafter but we love her anyway.  She loves everything we make and is a great cheerleader for all we do.  She works a full time job during the week so you will only see her on the weekends.

Lastly, me.  I am Julie Hand.  I am a maker of many things.  I love to paint, cook, decorate, make jewelry, bend wire, hammer metal and play with power tools any chance I get.  I have always been a maker.  If I wanted something to play with as a child the answer from my parents was always not right now why don't you make it instead, so I did.  I made doll clothes, barbie cars, bean bag chairs and all kinds of art.  I was always creating something and many times I liked the things I made better than store bought items.  That is still going on today.

I will be writing  on our blog hopefully giving you recipes and how to's to add some creativity in your life.  Come along with us as we show you things Alabama Made with Sass and a Little Southern Charm.

Have a great day!
Sincerely,

Julie
